Amanda Olive is the Human Resources director for the N.C. Department of Transportation.
Olive began her career with NCDOT in 1997 and has held various roles in the Department. Her first position was a Right of Way agent. In HR, she has served in the Classification and Compensation Unit as an analyst, the assistant manager and the manager. She also served as the HR Operations manager and the HR Policy manager.
Prior to becoming HR director, Olive was the Human Resources deputy director. As deputy HR director, she oversaw the Talent Management Unit, Classification and Compensation Unit and the Division of Motor Vehicles Human Resources Office.
She serves as an officer on the HR Committee and a member of the Equity Task Force for the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials as well as on the Transportation Research Board’s Resilience and Workforce Standing Committee.
Olive has a deep-rooted passion for ensuring NCDOT is recruiting and retaining the best workforce possible. She enjoys initiatives and projects that allow HR to achieve this goal while taking unique and innovative approaches.
She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from N.C. State University and a Master of Business Administration from Pfeiffer University.
Olive lives on a working family farm in Smithfield. The farm has been in the Olive family since the 1840s.
