The Greensboro Urban Loop project was divided into four sections.
Western Loop (U-2524C)
Completed in March 2018, the N.C. Department of Transportation built a six-lane freeway from north of Bryan Boulevard to U.S. 220 (Battleground Avenue) in northwest Greensboro, completing the Bryan Boulevard interchange and new interchange connecting the Greensboro Loop to U.S. 220.
Western Loop (U-2524D)
Completed and opened on Dec. 30, 2019. The NCDOT built a six-lane freeway from U.S. 220 (Battleground Avenue) to Lawndale Drive in northwest Greensboro. As part of this project, the NCDOT completed the U.S. 220 (Battleground Avenue) interchange and built a new interchange connecting the Greensboro Loop to Lawndale Drive.
Eastern Loop (U-2525B)
Completed in December 2017, work involved building a four-lane freeway from U.S. 70 Relocation to U.S. 29 north of Greensboro, completing the U.S. 70 interchange and building two new interchanges connecting the Greensboro Loop to Huffine Mill Road and U.S. 29.
Northern Loop (U-2525C)
Completed and opened on Jan. 23, 2023, work involved building a six-lane freeway from U.S. 29 north of Greensboro to Lawndale Drive in northern Greensboro. The section from Lawndale Drive to North Elm Street opened in December 2020, a year ahead of schedule. The remaining work on the project included completion of North Elm Street, Yanceyville Street and U.S. 29 interchanges.
