Environmental Assessment Approved
In July 2016, the N.C. Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration approved the Environmental Assessment .
The document is an important component in the project planning and development process as it examines potential environmental impacts and benefits of the proposed project.
Final Environmental Document
The Environmental Assessment process concluded with a Finding of No Significant Impact, the decision document that presents the reasons why the state and federal agencies have determined there are no significant environmental impacts associated with the project.
The Finding of No Significant Impact identifies the preferred design option (referred to as the preferred alternative), identifies mitigation, responds to comments received, and details changes to the project since the Environmental Assessment.
The Finding of No Significant Impact was approved in June 2018, NCDOT has moved forward with final design, acquisition of required permits, right-of-way acquisition, and construction.
