Public Comment
The N.C. Department of Transportation is seeking public input about the proposed project. Submit your comments using
NCDOT's public input portal.
Planning and development are underway to widen approximately 6.5 miles of East John Street and Old Monroe Road – from Trade Street to Wesley Chapel Stouts Road – in the towns of Matthews, Stallings and Indian Trail.
Proposed work would improve traffic flow, reduce travel delays, and allow for more vehicles to travel in the area. Bicyclists and pedestrians also would have accommodations along the project corridor.
Work will be divided into four sections:
- Trade Street in Matthews to I-485 (U-4714 AA)
- I-485 John Street interchange rebuild (U-4714 AB)
- I-485 and Morningside Meadow Lane in Stallings (U-4714 AC)
- Morningside Meadow Lane to Wesley Chapel-Stouts Road in Indian Trail (U-4714B)
