NEVI RFP Resources for Applicants

Potential applicants for Phase 1 funding of the N.C. Department of Transportation’s National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure, or NEVI, Program should read the requirements and guidelines before submitting an application in response to this Request for Proposal, or RFP. In addition, potential applicants should also create a project team, review the GIS-based map that shows locations for potential charging stations, and reach out to electric utilities.

Finding Potential Partners

NCDOT is facilitating networking opportunities to introduce and connect companies interested in being part of electric vehicle charging station deployment teams. NCDOT encourages potential applicants to use the NEVI Networking Database to network with local companies to engage as team members.

Round 1 Station Locations

NCDOT has released a GIS-based map showing the NEVI Phase 1 - Round 1 proposed locations for 11 electric vehicle charging stations.
  • Each location on the GIS map is a "cluster" of one or more exits along the alternative fuel corridors. These exits are within the bounds of meeting NEVI's 50-mile spacing requirement.
  • Applicants to the NEVI Program must site proposed charging stations within the designated clusters. There will be one charging station per cluster
  • The GIS map has layers that can be turned on to show disadvantaged communities and 100-year flood plains (see top right corner of GIS website).

Electric Utilities

NCDOT has provided an Excel spreadsheet that identifies potential electricity providers for specific zip codes. The NEVI Utility Contacts list is for the main utility providers or their association to assist with contacting the utility provider about potential charging sites.
