Skip a trip to the mailbox by going paperless with the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles.
By completing the steps below, NCDMV customers can opt to receive their annual vehicle registration renewal reminder and other DMV general updates (i.e. updates to motor vehicle laws) through email.
- Log onto MyDMV.
- On the
My Information Page, look for the Notifications section and click the
Go Paperless-Receive NCDMV Information by Email Only link.
- On the next page, click
Add Email.
- After filling out your email, make sure to select
Personal notifications, which will allow you to receive registration renewal notices. Please note: If you do not select Personal notifications, you will not receive your paperless reminder.
You can choose
Public announcements as well if you would like DMV to send you general updates. Make sure to click Save after entering your email and selecting your notifications.
Make Sure to Verify Your Email
After completing the above steps, you will receive an email from MyDMV asking you to verify your email.
Make sure you complete this step as NCDMV cannot send you paperless reminders without verification.
