The N.C. Department of Transportation and Virginia Passenger Rail Authority were awarded federal grants to purchase a portion of the S-Line corridor and advance design for future rail passenger service. The completion of the review of environmental documents will allow NCDOT and Virginia Passenger Rail Authority to proceed with further corridor designs. Efforts are underway by NCDOT to return the S-Line back to a functioning passenger rail corridor.
