The N.C. Department of Transportation is in the preliminary planning and development stage for functional and safety improvements along nearly 3.8 miles of U.S. 25/U.S. 70 in Madison County from approximately 300 feet south of Skyway Drive to Brush Creek Road.

A two-lane highway, U.S. 25/U.S. 70 is a key travel route through Madison County, connecting several towns and providing access to Interstate 26 in Weaverville. Three schools are located along the project corridor, including Madison Middle and Madison High schools.
