Project Overview

The N.C. Department of Transportation is conducting a feasibility study to improve traffic congestion and safety for N.C. 168 in Currituck County. The study will determine the best design and preliminary cost estimates for construction, utilities and right-of-way.

NCDOT recommends widening a 4.7-mile stretch of N.C. 168 from Guinea Road to North Point Boulevard to the Virginia state line. The improvements will also include a reduced conflict intersection and a sidewalk on the west side of N.C. 168.

N.C. 168 is a busy corridor and these improvements are critical for Moyock, as the area continues to grow as a commuter town for residents who work in Virginia. N.C. 168 is also important to vacationers visiting the Outer Banks.
