SHELBY – A Cleveland County road is closing at the end of the week as part of the Shelby Bypass project, weather permitting. N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will permanently close Troy Road at N.C. 150 Friday morning.
Drivers can access the remainder of Troy Road on a newly extended section of N. Lakewood Drive. The closure is currently being advertised on a message board near the site to alert drivers. Travel time is not expected to change since the new access point is similar in length to the section of Troy Road planned to close.
This segment is part of the bypass extending from east of N.C. 226 to west of N.C. 150, about 5.3 miles. Officials anticipate completing this section by the end of the year.
Motorists are encouraged to pay attention when approaching the work zone, obey the posted speed limit, and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.
