MORRISVILLE – Overnight closures are scheduled to continue as part of ongoing work for the Airport Boulevard Project.
Weather permitting, I-40 West is set to close at Airport Boulevard from midnight to 5 a.m. starting Saturday through Friday, Dec. 22 for bridge work. One lane of I-40 West will initially close to traffic at 8 p.m., followed by all of the westbound lanes closing by midnight.
Because traffic cannot go underneath the bridge for construction, drivers will be detoured to the Airport Boulevard exit, cross over and get back on I-40 West.
Other Road Work
In addition, starting tonight through Monday morning there will be no access to Slater Road from Airport Boulevard. Business will be able to access Slater Road from Sorrell Grove Church Road, but Slater Road is set to be closed from Concourse Village Drive to Airport Boulevard.
NCDOT officials remind drivers to remain alert, obey all posted traffic signs and drive with caution in work zones and along detours.
