Temporary Road Closures Set for Davidson County Highway

THOMASVILLE – Crews working on the ongoing roadway project at Davidson-Davie Community College plan to temporarily close both directions of U.S. 29/70 overnight Wednesday between Old U.S Highway 29 and Evans Road.

This closure, scheduled for 8 p.m. Wednesday until 7 a.m. Thursday, is necessary to adjust traffic patterns for upcoming work in the area. Traffic will be detoured around the work zone, with each direction of U.S. 29/70 having its own signed detour route.

When the roadway reopens on Thursday morning, the northbound direction of U.S. 29/70 will have a new access point into Davidson-Davie Community College. This new exit ramp will temporarily allow traffic only into the college parking lot. Northbound drivers wishing to access Old Greensboro Road will be redirected to continue north and turn left onto Evans Road. These changes are part of preparations for another wave of closures set to begin on Monday, March 24th.

For a visual of the detour routes, use the following interactive maps. An interactive map is also available to show new access to Davidson-Davie Community College.

Motorists are advised to follow all posted detour signs and exercise caution when traveling in the area.
