This Week at NCDOT: STIP Public Comment, Black History Month, Big Game Celebration

RALEIGH - The following are highlights from this week at the N.C. Department of Transportation. The stories below are also featured in NCDOT Now, the department's weekly newscast.

STIP Public Comment

NCDOT is seeking public input on the draft of the 2026-2035 State Transportation Improvement Program, also known as the STIP.

The plan shows how and when transportation projects are expected to be funded over the next 10 years.

The public comment period is open through April 4. Residents can review the plan and submit feedback online. They can also attend drop-in meetings for in-person comments.

Black History Month

February is Black History Month and we’re highlighting the N.C. Department of Transportation’s Office of Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Outreach Programs.

These programs support students pursuing careers in transportation fields like engineering, logistics, and urban planning.

We spoke with two current HBCU fellows and a former HBCU intern about their journeys and the program’s impact on their growth.

You can check out featured posts each week on our social media platforms.

Big Game Celebration

The Big Game is this weekend, and the department wants to remind you to celebrate responsibly.

Whether you’re cheering for the Eagles or Chiefs, every celebration should start with a game plan to prevent impaired driving.

Plan ahead and play it safely, don’t drink and drive.

Get a ride share, take the bus or use a designated driver instead.
