Maintenance Work Scheduled for Forsyth County Highway

WINSTON SALEM – The N.C. Department of Transportation is advising drivers of road closures that will impact Interstate 74 and I-40 in Forsyth County this week as part of necessary maintenance work.

Starting tomorrow at 9 a.m. and lasting until 5 p.m., NCDOT maintenance crews will close the I-74 Westbound lanes heading towards I-40 West at mile marker 55. In addition, the right lane of I-40 West, from mile marker 198 to 196, will also be closed during this time. Crews will be removing a raised section of the road and repaving it where the road meets the bridge over Willard Road.

For drivers affected by these closures, a signed detour will be in place. Traffic will follow Exit 55 onto I-40 Eastbound towards Greensboro. From there, drivers will take Exit 201 for Union Cross Road, make a left onto Union Cross Road North, and then a left onto I-40 Westbound towards Winston-Salem.

The same closures will take place on Wednesday during the same time.
Motorists are urged to follow all posted signage, exercise caution when approaching the work zone, and plan for possible delays.
