RALEIGH- Thanks to a recently awarded contract from the N.C. Department of Transportation to Cardinal Civil Contracting LLC, a section of N.C. 42 in Raleigh will see upgrades.
Crews will add a center lane on N.C. 42 between Mary Hobby Road to east of Winterton Drive and an eastbound left turn to Sauls Road. Upgrades will also include drainage, paving, grading and a new culvert.
The $4.5 million contract allows crews to start work in spring 2025 and complete, except for planting, by late spring 2026.
While crews work, drivers can expect lane closures. The department will provide more traffic updates on DriveNC.gov prior to work beginning.
