Temporary Closures and Lane Restrictions Scheduled for U.S. 29

GREENSBORO – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation will implement temporary road closures and lane restrictions for two ongoing projects on U.S. 29 in Greensboro and High Point.

A full closure of southbound U.S. 29 will take place tonight, from 8 p.m. to 6a.m., between Randleman Road and U.S. 220 in Greensboro. This closure is necessary to allow the crews to relocate equipment to the median in preparation for upcoming bridge construction. Southbound motorists will be detoured offsite via southbound U.S. 29/westbound U.S. 70 and southbound on Rehobeth Road to U.S. 29/70. Drivers should follow posted signs for guidance.

In High Point, lane closures are also scheduled tonight for U.S. 29. Crews will close the southbound right lane near the intersection with South Main Street from 8: p.m. to 6 a.m. for the installation of overhead structures. On Wednesday night, a similar closure will take place on the right northbound lane of U.S. 29 near the same intersection, also from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Motorists are encouraged to plan alternate routes and exercise caution while traveling through the affected areas. Expect some delays, remain alert, and obey posted signs.
