GASTONIA – The N.C. Department of Transportation invites the public to learn more about a developing project to improve traffic flow on N.C. 274 (Union Road) from Osceola Street to Niblick Drive in Gastonia. Currently, the $41 million project is scheduled for construction in the fall of 2027.
The proposed project will widen 1.12 miles of N.C. 274 with four 12-foot lanes and a divided grass median. Other improvements include:
- A ten-foot multiuse path on the west side of Union Road
- A five-foot sidewalk on the east side of Union Road
- A traffic signal at N.C. 274/Osceola Street/Forest Drive
A public, drop-in style meeting will be held from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 14 at Firestone Wesleyan Church, 1700 Union Road. People may attend the meeting at any time to meet NCDOT staff and discuss the project.
