North Raleigh License Plate Agency to Close Next Tuesday

​ROCKY MOUNT – The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles’ license plate agency (LPA) in north Raleigh will close at 5 p.m. on Oct. 29 after the current operator announced his retirement.

The current agency, at 2533 Atlantic Ave., in Raleigh, has been operated by Daniel Johnston since 1994.  A new contractor will begin operating the agency at the same location beginning Nov. 4.

In the meantime, three nearby license plate agencies offer service Monday through Friday except for state holidays:

Raleigh, 4121 New Bern Ave., from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Wake Forest, 2012 S. Main St., Suite 502, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
Cary, 1251 Buck Jones Rd., from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

LPAs offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags and duplicate registrations. Currently, 122 license plate agencies operate in North Carolina.

People are reminded that many vehicle services can be completed online, including property tax payments and registration renewals. To get started, please visit MyNCDMV.gov.
