RALEIGH – Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation will perform bridge work to extend the life of the bridge over Yadkin Drive on eastbound Interstate 440 between Ridge Road and Six Forks Road. This is part of the I-440 interstate rehabilitation project.
Weather permitting, crews will close three left lanes on I-440 East starting at 10 p.m. Oct. 12, with the lanes reopening by 5 a.m. Oct. 14.
During the same time period, the ramp from Glenwood Avenue to I-440 East will also be closed.
One eastbound lane will remain open throughout the weekend. However, traffic is expected to be heavy during the day on Sunday, drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes.
Transportation officials remind drivers to plan, remain alert, and obey all posted traffic signs.
