RALEIGH- Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation plan to demolish the old eastbound Interstate 440 bridge over Hillsborough Street this weekend.
To do so safely, crews will close Hillsborough Street at I-440 from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m., Monday, weather permitting.
Traffic headed west Hillsborough Street will take I-440 East then Wade Ave. to I-440 West back to Hillsborough Street.
Drivers using eastbound Hillsborough Street will need to take I-440 West to Western Boulevard, I-440 East to Hillsborough Street.
Transportation officials remind drivers to plan for detours, remain alert, and obey all posted traffic signs.
