This Week at NCDOT: Mock Incident, Football Traffic, School Bus Safety

RALEIGH – The following are highlights from this week at the N.C. Department of Transportation. The stories below are also featured in NCDOT Now, the department's weekly newscast.

N.C. 540 Mock Incident

This week’s planned simulation, hosted by the N.C. Turnpike Authority and local emergency services personnel, gave response teams the opportunity to train for a real-life scenario.

More than a dozen agencies partnered together in response to the staged roadway collision on the newest stretch of N.C. 540.

NCSU Football Traffic

Thousands of fans are expected to attend NC State University’s first football game of the season at Carter-Finley Stadium on Aug 29.

Drivers should allow for extra travel time due to road closures near the stadium. Signs are in place to direct traffic around the Blue Ridge Road and Beryl Road detours.

DMV School Bus & Traffic Safety

The new school year is beginning, and the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles is showcasing improvements to its school bus driver training program.

New school buses, as well as new classroom initiatives and virtual technologies, will be available for bus drivers this year.
