THOMASVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily detour traffic on U.S. 29/70 in Davidson County to facilitate a traffic shift near Davidson-Davie Community College.
Starting at 8 p.m. tomorrow, southbound traffic on U.S. 29/70 will be detoured offsite while crews prepare for the traffic shift. The detour will be in place until 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
During this time, the following detour route will be marked:
•U.S. 29/70 South: Drivers will exit at Evans Road and continue onto Old Greensboro Road. After passing the roundabout at Davidson-Davie Community College, drivers will merge onto Caldcleugh Road. Finally, at the end of Caldcleugh Road, motorists will turn right back onto US 29/70 South.
Once the work is completed and the closure is lifted Wednesday morning, southbound traffic will follow a new traffic pattern.
Drivers are advised to proceed with caution through the work zone and anticipate delays due to the detours.
