Davie County Roundabout Construction Starts This Week

MOCKSVILLE – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will temporarily close the intersection of U.S. Highway 158 and Farmington Road in Davie County for roundabout construction.

Beginning on Tuesday, July 9th at 9 a.m. the intersection will be closed to all traffic. The closure is anticipated to last approximately a few weeks, and is expected to reopen Aug. 2, weather permitting.

For the duration of the closure, signed detours will be in place for both eastbound and westbound U.S. Highway 158 traffic. Drivers are advised to follow posted detour signs and plan for additional travel time.

Roundabouts improve safety for drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists. They also help reduce congestion and backups typical experienced at traditional intersections with stop signs and traffic signals.

NCDOT has produced a video showing how roundabouts work.
