Greenville Corridor Continues to See Improvements

GREENVILLE – Another upgraded section of Dickinson Avenue reopened Monday afternoon, while work on the next phase is set to begin Tuesday.

The section between Skinner Street and the railroad overpass reopened Monday after contract crews for the N.C. Department of Transportation repaired or improved storm drainage systems, the road's subgrade and driving surface, plus the sidewalks, curbs and gutters.

The department is upgrading this three-lane road leading into Uptown Greenville in sections to minimize disruptions to drivers, pedestrians and businesses.

The contractor will proceed to “Section 2" – between Wilson Street and the Moye Boulevard/Hooker Road intersection– starting Tuesday. This section is scheduled be closed to through-traffic until October, when the improvements are completed.

While work in Section 2 is underway, businesses will remain open to the public, but drivers can avoid construction by taking Memorial Drive, 10th Street and Evans Street. Drivers should take the detour into account when planning their commute and use caution near the work zone.
