BANNER ELK - A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will continue intermittent nighttime closures on N.C. 105 for two evenings this week.
Beginning at 7 p.m. on the evenings of June 18 and June 20, crews from Wright Brothers Construction Company Inc. will close N.C. 105 between Broadstone Road and Old Shulls Mill Road to perform a blasting operation followed by intermittent road closures to remove rock and debris.
Crews plan for the closures to extend to no more than 30 minutes at a time until the full reopening of the road the following mornings at 6 a.m.
Crews have successfully performed similar operations in previous weeks to replace the 69-year-old bridge over the Watauga River.
On-site flaggers will be in the area directing motorists.
Drivers should expect delays and use caution when approaching the work zone.
