Beginning tomorrow night, at 8 p.m., northbound and southbound U.S. 29/70 traffic will be placed on an offsite detour, while crews prepare for the traffic shift.  Traffic will remain on the offsite detour until 6 a.m. Wednesday morning.

The following signed detours will be in place:
  • U.S. 29/70 North: Drivers will exit onto Caldcleugh Road, which merges onto Old Greensboro Road, continue past the roundabout at Davidson-Davie Community College for approximately 1 mile before turning right onto Evans Road.  At the end of Evans Road, drivers will turn right onto U.S. 29/70 South and merge to the left lane to perform a U-turn onto U.S. 29/70 North.
  • U.S. 29/70 South: Drivers will exit at Evans Road and continue to Old Greensboro Road, turn left onto Old Greensboro Road past the roundabout at Davidson-Davie Community College, and merge onto Caldcleugh Road.  At the end of Caldcleugh Road, drivers will turn right onto U.S. 29/70 South.

When the closed portion of U.S. 29/70 is reopened Wednesday morning, northbound traffic will be in a new traffic pattern.
