RALEIGH- Contractors plan to close the Interstate 440 West exit ramp to Hillsborough Street Thursday as part of a permanent traffic shift for the I-440 improvement project.
Starting at 11 p.m., weather permitting, the exit ramp from I-440 West to Hillsborough Street will close.
A new exit ramp is expected to open Friday morning at 5 that will serve as the exit from I-440 West to both Wade Avenue and Hillsborough Street.
During the overnight closure traffic will detour by staying on I-440 West, exiting at Western Boulevard, and taking to I-440 East back to Hillsborough Street.
Drivers should slow down and be alert for crews and equipment going through the work zone.
