CHARLOTTE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close a bridge on Shopton Road in southwest Charlotte next week, weather permitting. The bridge crosses Coffey Creek between Ayrshire Glen and Laurel Valley Road.
The closure is needed so bridge maintenance crews can use a hydraplatform to access one of the beams needing repairs. Repairs will also be made to sections of the asphalt bridge deck.
The bridge will close on Monday, April 29 and is anticipated to remain closed up to one week. A detour will be set up for drivers from Shopton Road to N.C. 49, Arrowood Road and Sandy Porter Road.
