​BANNER ELK - N.C. 105 is expected to remain closed between Broadstone Road and Old Shulls Mill Road until at least tomorrow evening.
Contract crews for the N.C. Department of Transportation are clearing materials from the road and stabilizing the slopes adjacent to the roadway after a blasting operation​ earlier in the week.
Drivers are encouraged to utilize the following detour route from Boone to Avery County:
- Take U.S. 321 to Lenoir
- From Lenoir, take U.S. 64 to Morganton
- From Morganton, take N.C. 181 to Pineola
- From Pineola, take U.S. 221 to Linville
