BANNER ELK - Contract crews for the North Carolina Department of Transportation will continue a major rock removal operation into this evening.
Crews from Wright Brothers Construction Company Inc. have been stopping traffic intermittently on N.C. 105 and Broadstone Road during the day removing materials and rocks from slopes.
The work will continue through this evening with delays for no more than 15 minutes at a time.
On-site flagging crews will be directing motorists along with message boards providing work zone information.
The daily intermittent closures will resume tomorrow morning.
Drivers should anticipate delays and use caution when approaching the work zone.
