CLAYTON – A project to extend Ranch Road in Clayton will require a closure and detour this weekend.
A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation plans to close Little Creek Church Road near its junction with Ranch Road between 7 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Monday to install storm drainpipes.
A signed detour will send drivers onto U.S. 70 Business, Pony Farm Road and Little Creek Church Road. Drivers should allow for extra time using the detour and be cautious when traveling near the work zone.
This work is part of a $9.7 million construction project that began last spring to extend Ranch Road to Rose Street, now a dead end at U.S. 70 Business and N.C. 42 East (next to the Sheetz store). The project, which includes a realignment between Ranch and Little Creek Church roads, is ahead of schedule and expected to be completed by the end of this year.
