ROCKY MOUNT – A road under construction in Nash County will close to traffic for a week.
North Old Carriage Road between Reges Store and Green Hills roads is scheduled to be closed in both directions from 7 a.m. March 11 until 5 p.m. March 18. (This closure had been previously postponed twice due to rain.) During this closure, contract crews will do pavement work, grading and install guardrail and storm drains.
This work is part a project by the N.C. Department of Transportation to widen North Old Carriage Road along Nash Community College, as this project page details.
Because this upcoming closure will be off Exit 463 on U.S. 64, the detour will utilize these two other U.S. 64 exits, depending on one's direction of travel:
- North Winstead Avenue (Exit 466)
Drivers should allow for extra time for their commute and use caution when traveling near the work zone.
