THOMASVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close a portion of U.S. 29/70 tomorrow in Davidson County near Davidson-Davie Community College to perform pavement repairs within the roadway.
Beginning at 9:30 a.m., northbound and southbound U.S. 29/70 traffic will be placed on an offsite detour, while the repairs are performed. Work is expected to be completed within two hours.
The following detours will be in place:
- U.S. 29/70 North: Northbound motorists will exit onto Caldcleugh Road, which merges onto Old Greensboro Road. Motorists will continue past the roundabout at Davidson-Davie Community College and continue for approximately 1 mile before turning right onto Evans Road. At the end of Evans Road, motorists will turn right onto U.S. 29/70 South and merge to the left lane to perform a U-turn onto US 29/70 North.
- U.S. 29/70 South: Southbound motorists will exit at Evans Road to continue to Old Greensboro Road. Motorists will turn left onto Old Greensboro Road, continue past the roundabout at Davidson-Davie Community College, and merge onto Caldcleugh Road. At the end of Caldcleugh Road, motorists will turn right onto U.S. 29/70 South.
Motorists are reminded to use caution when approaching the work zone and expect delays due to the detours.
