WINTERVILLE – The safety of a Pitt County crossroads will be improved next week when an all-way stop is installed.
State transportation crews plan to make the change at Old Tar and Ayden Golf Club roads on the morning of Dec. 20, after a review of the crash patterns. Currently, drivers on two approaches of this three-legged intersection must stop.
All-way stops are an efficient and quick safety improvement where they are warranted. They have been shown to reduce fatal and injury crashes by more than 75%.
While the traffic pattern is being changed, drivers should be alert for crews and proceed cautiously.
