CHARLOTTE – Next week, N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will close a section of Interstate 277 to continue a $13.9 million project to improve nine structures at the I-277/I-77 interchange.
Some of the contract work includes:
- Bridge deck repairs
- Structural steel repairs
- Cleaning/painting structural steel
- Bridge joint rehabilitation
- Substructure repairs
- Cleaning/painting bridge bearings
The closures will be in place from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday-Thursday nights, Sept. 5-8, allowing contract crews to safely work on a concrete slab section in the center of the road.
Drivers heading south on N.C. 16/Brookshire Freeway toward I-277 will be detoured to Beatties Ford Road and W. Trade Street, continuing to I-77 North to access N.C. 16/I-277 Inner.
