GARNER – Work on the Complete 540 project is scheduled to continue with overnight closures planned along Interstate 40 this week and into early next week.
Weather permitting, I-40 East is set to close at U.S. 70 East (Exit 309) from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and Monday nights so crews can safely remove old bridge girders and columns over the interstate. I-40 East traffic will be detoured along U.S. 70 East and N.C. 42 West to return to the interstate.
Drivers should factor this detour into their trips and be mindful of the crews they encounter throughout the work zone.
