HILLSBOROUGH – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will close both directions of Old N.C 86 in Orange County tonight.
The road will close under the bridges on Interstate 40 starting at 10 p.m., and the road is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Thursday.
The work is a part of the ongoing I-40 widening project.
A marked detour will direct drivers to utilize Old N.C. 86, New Hope Church Road, N.C. 86 and Waterstone Road to circle around the closure.
NCDOT officials remind drivers to remain alert, obey all posted traffic signs and drive with caution in work zones and along detours.
