CHARLOTTE – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will continue to temporarily close ramps this week where Interstate 485 meets U.S. 74 (exit 51.) The closures are necessary to safely continue paving operations associated with the I-485 express lanes project.
Tonight, the loop and ramp from I-485 Outer to U.S. 74 East & West will be closed. Drivers will be detoured along the outer loop to Idlewild Road (exit 49) where drivers can turn around to access the inner loop.
These closures will be in place from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. through next Thursday morning, Aug. 11, except for Saturday night when closures will start at 8 p.m.
Drivers should be mindful of crews working in these locations and allow extra time to reach their destination.
