Operation Firecracker
The July 4th holiday is fast approaching, and North Carolina officials want to encourage you to be safe during your celebrations.
NCDOT joined its law enforcement partners at Falls Lake in Raleigh for this week’s launch of the “Operation Firecracker Booze It & Lose It” and “Operation Dry Water” campaigns.
These campaigns raise awareness of the dangers of drunk driving – using increased patrols to crack down on impaired drivers on roads and waterways.

Equipment Roadeo
Hundreds of NCDOT employees from the mountains to the coast recently participated in the Equipment Operators Safety Training Conference – or “Roadeo” – at the state fairgrounds.
After finishing first in their respective highway divisions, these employees competed in the statewide event – showcasing their skills in a friendly competition, operating heavy equipment in seven categories.
The event promotes work zone safety, employee morale and teamwork.
