KERNERSVILLE – A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will continue operations to improve a stretch of Interstate 40 in Forsyth County tonight.
A short stretch of I-40 East between Union Cross Road to N.C 66 will have one lane closed starting no earlier than 8 p.m., with the lane opening again by no later than 5 a.m.
In addition, the off-ramp from I-40 East to Highway 66 (Exit 203) will close no earlier than 9 p.m. and reopen no later than 6 a.m. Drivers may utilize the detour by taking the Sand Ridge exit (Exit 208), driving over I-40 and returning west on I-40 to the N.C. 66 exit.
Transportation officials recommend drivers plan ahead for the detour, always remain alert and obey all posted signs when driving through the work zone.
