Rowan County 6-Month Bridge Replacement Beginning Next Week

ROCKWELL – An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will begin a bridge replacement project in Rowan County next week that is expected to last about six months.

Beginning Monday, March 20, Agner Road will be closed in both directions near Stokes Ferry Road to allow the contractor to replace the current bridge with an updated structure to address traffic volumes and improve safety.

The project will cost $792,315. The road is expected to be reopened by Sept. 8.

Traffic will be detoured to Stokes Ferry Road, Providence Church Road and Bringle Ferry Road to return to Agner Road.

Motorists are advised to plan accordingly for delays and slow down while using the detour.
