Weekend Work Scheduled on I-277 in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE – This weekend, N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will be making concrete slab repairs on the John Belk side of Interstate 277, weather permitting.

To safely perform the repairs, crews will close the ramps from I-77 North to I-277 (exit 9B), from I-277 Inner to I-77 South (exit 1B), and from Freedom Drive to the outer loop.

The closures will be in place from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Sunday with the following detours will be in place:

I-77 North to I-277: Drivers can continue north on I-77 to the Brookshire Freeway (exit 11A) to access I-277.

I-277 Inner to I-77 South: Drivers will take Morehead Street to Freedom Drive, turning onto I-77 South.

Freedom Drive to I-277 Outer: Drivers can take West Summit Avenue to South Mint Street, then to Morehead Street back to the outer loop.

Drivers need to slow down and use extra caution while going through the work zone. They also need to pay extra attention to the road for their own safety, as well as any occupants of other vehicles and the construction crews in the area.
