UPDATE - An additional detour, specifically for larger vehicles such as trucks, etc., has been posted while the bridge on N.C. 906 in Brunswick County is replaced.
Trucks will be detoured onto U.S. 17 Business and N.C. 211. Other traffic may use this route or local roads.
BOLIVIA - A Brunswick County highway will close for several months to allow crews to replace an aging bridge.
The bridge on N.C. 906 (Midway Road SE) near U.S. 17 Business (Old Ocean Highway) south of Bolivia will close Oct. 17.
Crews are expected to open the new bridge before Memorial Day next year. When complete, drivers will notice the new bridge has wider lanes than the current bridge.
During the closure, other drivers will be detoured on local roads. The N.C. Department of Transportation urges drivers to use caution near the work zone and allow for extra time for their commute.
