RALEIGH – Road and ramp closures will be in place nightly this week so crews can safely repair part of a bridge that was struck by an overheight vehicle last Friday.
Westbound Western Boulevard and the ramp from Interstate 440 East to westbound Western Boulevard are expected to be closed from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. for several nights beginning tonight. The work is weather dependent and subject to change.
During these closures, westbound Western Boulevard traffic will be detoured up I-440 to Hillsborough Street and back down the Beltline to the Western Boulevard interchange. I-440 East traffic wanting to take westbound Western Boulevard will follow that same route.
Drivers should watch out for crews working to make this repair within the active I-440 work zone and allow extra time for the detours.
