Lane and Ramp Closures Set for This Week for I-440 Project

RALEIGH – Several lane and ramp closures are scheduled for this week as part of the ongoing project to improve Interstate 440 in west Raleigh.

Lane closures are planned daily along Jones Franklin Road near the beltline between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. through Friday so crews can work on tying in the new interchange that will be located just west of the existing junction. Daytime and nighttime closures will then be installed along this stretch as needed Friday night through Sunday night to shift traffic to the new pattern.

Related closures are scheduled for the I-440 East ramp to Jones Franklin Road each night Monday through Thursday (9 p.m.-5 a.m.) and for the on and off ramps in both directions of I-440 at Jones Franklin Road from Friday night through Sunday night. These closures will enable the contractor to shift traffic to the new ramps and structure over I-440 and restripe the ramps on the westbound side.

All work is weather dependent and subject to rescheduling.

Drivers should use Western Boulevard to access Jones Franklin Road during the ramp closures and slow down and be mindful of crews working close to the travel lanes in these areas.
