WINSTON-SALEM – Starting tomorrow, N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will close ramps and lanes along sections of Interstate 40 in Forsyth County for an ongoing rehabilitation and bridge preservation project, weather permitting.
The following lane closures are scheduled to take place between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following morning:
- On April 7-8, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 East from the U.S. 421/I-40 split to west of Peters Creek Parkway.
- On April 7, one of two lanes is scheduled to be closed on I-40 West at the N.C. 66 interchange; on April 8, one of two lanes will be closed on I-40 East in the same area.
- On April 7-8, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from east of Peters Creek Parkway to west of Peters Creek Parkway.
The following ramp closures are scheduled to take place between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning:
- On April 8, the ramp from Hanes Mall Boulevard to I-40 East is scheduled to be closed. A signed detour will be in place directing traffic to Stratford Road and Silas Creek Parkway to access I-40 East.
- On April 8, the ramp from Peters Creek Parkway to I-40 West is scheduled to be closed. A signed detour directing traffic to U.S. 52 North to return to I-40 West will be in place.
On April 7-8, one of three southbound lanes on the Peters Creek Parkway bridge over I-40 is tentatively scheduled to be closed beginning at 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following morning.
Motorists are reminded to use caution while traveling through the work zones and plan for delays due to the detours.
