MEBANE – A local roadway will soon follow a new alignment in conjunction with the N.C. 119 Bypass project.
Contract crews plan to permanently close the Lake Latham Road railroad crossing at 8 a.m. Wednesday. This means drivers will no longer be able to access Lake Latham Road from U.S. 70.
A new alignment that ties Lake Latham Road to West Holt Street is expected to be open to traffic by the end of the day Wednesday, weather permitting.
Moving forward, drivers in this area will utilize the crossings at Moore and Gibson roads to access points on either side of the railroad tracks.
Drivers should be mindful of crews working at the Lake Latham Road crossing Wednesday and prepare for the new alignment.
