Sign Repair Requires Interstate Ramp Closure

GREENSBORO – Crews plan to close a portion of an Interstate 85 collector ramp for a couple weeks to repair an overhead sign that was struck and knocked down by a vehicle.

The damaged sign is at Exit 122A, which is how I-85 South traffic accesses Groometown Road. To safely conduct the repair, the collector ramp is set to be closed between Exits 122B (I-73 South) and 122A from 11 p.m. Nov. 7 until 11 p.m. Nov. 21.

This means I-85 South drivers who want to access Groometown Road will take Exit 122C and follow I-73 North to U.S. 29/70 South and then take Exit 33. Drivers on the I-85 South collector ramp will not be allowed past Exit 122B.

This closure will also impact drivers on I-73 North wishing to take Exit 95B to access I-85 South – they will also follow the Groometown Road detour described above.

The work schedule and associated closure are weather dependent and subject to change.

Drivers should pay close attention when driving through this area and allow extra time for the detours.
