Resurfacing Projects Awarded for Durham, Franklin and Granville Counties

​RALEIGH – Thanks to two new contracts recently awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation, totaling more than $7.6 million, about 34 miles of area roadway will be resurfaced.

  • Under a $5 million contract, Carolina Sunrock of Raleigh will mill and resurface pavement and improve shoulders along 17.1 miles of state-maintained roads throughout southern Durham County. Major roads to be resurfaced as a part of this contract include N.C. 54 between Fayetteville Road and Mandy Court, Hillsborough Road/U.S. 70 Business between Neal and Hillandale roads, and Avondale Drive/N.C. 55 between Geer Street and Roxboro Street/U.S. 501 Business.
  • Under a $2.6 million contract, Carolina Sunrock will mill and resurface pavement and improve shoulders along 16.9 miles of state-maintained roads near the Franklin-Granville County Line. Some of the roads to be resurfaced include Woodland Church and Hugh Davis roads.

This work can begin in March and must be complete by the end of summer 2023.
