BELMONT – The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close lanes on Interstate 85 in Gaston County for one week due to nightly construction.
Starting Monday, two of three lanes will be closed near mile marker 26 on I-85 South from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. The closures will allow crews to safely repair damage to the Belmont Mount Holly Road bridge over the highway after it was struck by an excavator last month. Work is expected to be complete by Oct. 18, weather permitting.
Drivers should use caution while traveling through this area and plan for delays.
